So you're ready for spring, are you?

Spring isn’t here yet… but it’s coming!
As I write this it is in fact SNOWING outside, but I know Nebraska… and I know that EVENTUALLY…. It will be spring again.
So in light of the inevitable and unstoppably march of time… let me just remind everyone that springtime means sprinkler maintenance!
We had an interesting and troublesome situation last year that I think you all should remember this spring when thinking about your lawn:
Last year’s spring was so wet, and mild for so long that NO ONE called and got their sprinklers fired up and ready to go until one day the temperature skyrocketed and the rain stopped and all of the sudden:
Burning lawns everywhere.
Yep, lots of people waited and waited and waited to turn their sprinklers on to EVEN CHECK them and when they did it was a terrible time to find out that the snow blowers had munched some heads, or that something needed work right away… so we were swamped with emergency repairs WAY, WAY late in the season when it was VERY hot and dry!
More than a few of our customers were caught out!
So this year… all I ask… is that you turn on your sprinklers and check them out early…. Once spring is here… even if you aren’t going to start watering for a month or two… PLEASE…. Check them to make sure they don’t need something major in order for you to use them. Ok?
You will make your life easier, you will make my life easier, you will save your lawn ,and  you will save money!
Call ahead and schedule a visit if you want help doing it or if you want a turn on/tune up right out of the gate. It’s no trouble to get you on the list early!!

Whew! What a season we had this year! The 2013 season will go down in history as a killer! Busy, yes... but we had more equipment breakdowns than ANY OTHER SEASON SINCE 1965!!! It has been a rough one... everything needed emergency repairs or replacement right in the busiest month of the year! And we even had THREE machines lock up motors at the worst possible times... our sod cutter, one of our Ford tractors and our pipe pulling machine all died on us when there wasn't a moment to spare! But, we do have two new members of the family for next season:
A new Ryan sod cutter and the old Piper has been replaced by another used Ditch Witch with a custom Black paint job! The only consolation is that we got some decent pictures out of all the carnage!

Get the season off to a good start!

Well, with the snow finally gone for good (We hope!) and the temperatures are finally getting a bit warmer, it won’t be long till we all will be watering away trying to get those lawns looking great!
Most of us are going to have some work ahead of us this spring after that nasty winter for sure… some of us are going to have a lot of gravel and sand to get out or yards as well as the usual chores!
One thing that is definitely going to be an issue this year is damage from snow removal.
Let’s face it… it’s not easy to keep that snowblower away from those sprinkler heads after 5 months of snow! You can’t remember where your sidewalk is, much less the yard! So, while you are gearing up to start your spring yard work, we are gearing up to get your sprinklers and yards in tip top shape and ready to go again for another hot summer!
One important key to keeping your system operating at peak performance and putting the water where it needs to go, instead of in the street, on your cars, or on the neighbor’s porch is a good tune up!
Your cars need it, your lawnmowers need it, and your sprinkler system needs it too!
Let us help you out, and keep your sprinklers working like they should be with a spring start up and walkthrough.
I will personally start up your sprinklers, check out the condition of your Backflow prevention device (or Vacuum breaker), re-set your controller if need be, run through all your stations, visually inspect each head for trouble, clean out sprinklers that might need a little TLC, repair any broken parts or components, and then re-adjust and fine tune any and all sprinklers or controllers that might need a little adjusting after that hard winter!
A properly adjusted irrigation system can save you a tremendous amount of money … a poorly adjusted one can send your water and money into the gutter!
Give us a call or shoot us an email, and let us know if I can tune you up this spring!

Spring is almost here!

Well, it's almost time. We have started up a few systems already, done some check ups, and fixed the inevitable snow removal damage that occurs every year from the snow plows and snow blowers.
Things are warming up and the frost is out of the ground!
I don't' know about you, but I am getting a little tired of seeing this stuff all the time:

It sure feels nice not to have to shovel the driveway every morning!

Make sure you get your service calls called in as soon as possible, so you don't get caught in the rush of the spring start ups!

call us up and let us take a look at what you need!
